8B13 Register
« on: April 26, 2022, 11:50:56 AM »
When I saw this 8B13 Register listed for $12.50 (ebay link), I couldn't resist even though there is some damage to the case.  I had trouble getting the rotor to run without stopping, so I replaced it with another, swapping the output shaft.  This is my first wood Telechron cyclometer.

That case is a whole lot nicer than 90% of the wooden cyclometers I have rehabbed

I have certainly seen worse and probably none better for the price.  I think that this is the fifth Telechron cyclometer model in my collection.

$12.50!!!??? Excellent @@*
Swapping the output shaft requires disassembly of the rotor?
I'd like to say, what I mean to say, will occur to me long after I've gone....... *^!

$12.50 indeed.  I missed that bargain.  The best I ever did was $20 and it was a bakelite Baron.  Yours as sold has nice looking numbers.  The seconds wheel always looks the worst and usually does not turn very well.
I also do not understand changing out the rotor shaft.  The cyclometers use a B2 rotor with a threaded stubby shaft.

The number wheels were very dirty, so I cleaned them slowly and carefully, trying to remove the dirt and leave the numbers.

The replacement rotor originally had a different type of output shaft.  I had pulled it apart a while back because it was noisy.  I gave it a cleaning, new oil, and the shaft from the other rotor.

The horizontal cyclometers use right handed threaded B2 rotors.  The vertical cyclometers use left hand threaded B2 rotors.  I do not understand what was different between the 2.
