AB-7F54, 7F54 and 7F54L Deb-Alarm (or Luminous Deb-Alarm)
"Deb-Alarm" is a small, square-faced, easel-type clock for the dressing table, living-room or office desk. The 12-hour bell alarm rings approximately 20 minutes unless shut off. Available with either chrome or gold-finish case, with dial and hands to match. Modern type numerals are etched on a brilliant black enamel ring, with lined silver or gold-finished background. Clock is 5" square and 3" deep. Availab1e with 6' cord.
Alarm version of the Debutante. Some cases were marked AB-7F54-A (gold) and AB-7F54-B (chrome). At first the numerals and hands were chrome or brass but by 1937, luminous paint was introduced and it was not optional! The model number changed to 7F54L in the catalogs if not on the clocks. Besides the luminous paint, you could tell later examples by their painted rears. Introduced right at the start of the 7-Series in 1933, she had a good run and last we saw Deb was in the 1940-'41 catalog.

The case is painted on these later Debs because the rear plate is now made of steel. The original radium paint doesn't glow at all anymore but this is what I did with $7 worth of luminous paint, a teeny brush and an hour or so (2 coats). This one is just marked "7F54" if you're curious. |
