I am refinishing it right now so no pictures. I used basic wood filler in a tube to fill the gap. The color I had was close to the wood color. Then stained it. And now polyurethane.
When I got the clock most of the finish appeared to be either gone or very thin on the back. I scraped the back, glued it, filled it, scraped and sanded it, stained, polyurethane. I will post in a couple days when all is done. My refinishing job is not fine furniture quality but it looks a lot better than when I got it.
