Majestic Telechron Grandfather Clock-radio
« on: November 26, 2017, 12:12:07 PM »
A couple of weekends ago I was trolling a sale in a guy's large storage unit.  He had quite a few antique radios, including this large grandfather clock with "Telechron" on the face.  Apparently it was made by Majestic because that name was also cast into the dial.  I was not able to look in the back but assume it was pretty standard.  It had a radio in the case just below the clock--large tubes, AM only.  The guy said these grandfather clock radios were only made for about 8 months in 1931-32, and then the Depression caught up with them.  The face was nice but the case was rough and I think it was missing a couple of finials.

There is more information on the Internet by searching Majestic-Telechron-grandfather-clock-radio.

Not a bad looking clock.  There were a few different manufacturers that tried this concept.  As expensive as furniture was, two items in one made a good value.

These radio clocks were seriously expensive in their time.
