Telechron & GE Clocks / 7F65 - Deputy
« Last post by Kid Clock on February 01, 2020, 04:54:50 PM »
Well, it's been a long time, but, here is another one of the fabulous Kid Clock posts.  This time, it's the 7F65 - The Deputy.  According to Pappy's dreaded Master List it is:

 7F65  Deputy   8-16-35 -> 12-31-37  $4.95-5.50  Bk,I  73,056

I got this from midwestsky several years ago.  One day, I went into his office and saw this very dirty clock with a clipped cord sitting on his shelf.  I said, "What are you going to do with this?"  He said, "I don't know."  I said, "The bezel is chipped like crazy and will require repainting.  I happen to have the right colored paint from my GE fan restoration." http://telechron.net/forager/index.php?topic=286.msg1956#msg1956  (click on the video link in this thread)

He said, "Take it."

I took it.

After 5 years or so, I finally got around to fixing it.  Here it is...

Thanks.  A bunch of people e-mailed me about this thing.

Can you tell if this one is still a Telechron?

(For those who are wondering, Pappy put the older image on his current Telechron splash page...  since I directly linked to his "leadpicabig" image, the image in this post will change and futuristic perusers will be totally confused...)

Telechron & GE Clocks / Re: Reclaiming a 3F74 Duncan
« Last post by Mrbill5 on January 30, 2020, 05:24:39 PM »
I just bought a black Duncan on Ebay.  I was hoping for a hidden blue one, nope black. The plastic has a satin finish to it, probably dirt and oxidized plastic.  So what kind of surface finish is typical for a Duncan?

Watch this one.  The case is very susceptible to being crushed by the case screws.  Like any case, don't tighten it past where it stops shaking in the case.

Looks good.  The wood edges look intact which is a major plus.  Dial looks nice, I do not know by not seeing it real time if I would do much more to it.  Wonder how I missed seeing it for sale on Ebay.

The Brevet arrived on Thursday. I cleaned the glass and the movement, and was able to clean the dial to where it's presentable. A full restoration will have to wait until the weather gets a little warmer since I have to work out in the garage.

Telechron & GE Clocks / Re: Removing Adhesive Residue
« Last post by Chadakoin on January 22, 2020, 07:55:51 PM »
I'm trying to get the old glue out of the trim recesses on an Electrolarm. The glue beds are textured, so hard to get it out of the nooks and crannies. Alcohol and acetone will loosen it a bit, but both leave a white residue on the bakelite that has to be scraped off as well. Maybe I'll give naptha a try.
